the consortiumLife-AIs has received the support of the prestigiousLIFE environmental programof the European Union. This consortium unites two leading technology providers, Faith-project leader- andAgerpix, along with three major producers: canena castle, Dominio Fournierwinery of the González Byass Wine Family andAgrosao, of the groups Reyes Gutiérrez and Euroseeds.

Objectives of the Life-AIs project

In the Life-AIs project, Faith, join forces with Agerpix, provider of digital agronomic services specialized in data processing and predictive models, to “see” the crops through the capture of images with 3D cameras and carry out their processing with AI. The accuracy of the data generated from the valuable visual information makes it possible to control the state of the plantations and carry out high-precision treatments and tasks in the field..

Life-AIs: See & Save, in English watch and save, allows to know the vigor of the plantation, Obtain harvest forecast and detect diseases. All this valuable information facilitates highly accurate plantation management based on visual information with an excellent degree of detail and temporal resolution that will translate into significant environmental and economic benefits for agricultural companies..

Alignment of Life-AIs with environmental policies

It is estimated that, during the 54 months of project duration, Life-AIs will get a reduction of 604 tons of greenhouse gases. This figure will multiply, reaching a decrease of 3,225 tons per year when the technology is implemented in 97.437 hectares approximately. These reductions translate into savings of up to 43% in phytosanitary products, up to 20% in fertilizers, up to 31% on fuel and up to 13% on electricity annually. These environmental achievements show the total correspondence of Life-AIs with the objectives set by the strategy From the field to the table of the Green Pact of the EU.

Trials and Field Tests Life-AIs

The Life-AIs consortium will demonstrate the reduction of emissions and savings of this innovation in vineyard plantations, olive grove and avocados in Spain and Portugal. For it, tests will be carried out in 150 hectares of cultivation belonging to the Dominio Fournier plantations(vineyard of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, Spain), canena castle(olive grove, Spain) and Agrosao(avocado, Portugal).

Trials of Life-AIs, which will be carried out thanks to the support of the LIFE program, will see how this digital agronomic solution significantly reduces the environmental impact of agriculture in the high-value crop sector, taking care of a quality fruit production, increasing the profitability of farmers and helping to improve the agri-food security of society.
